Director Wiltshire applauds Surrey Paving and Aggregate Co. Ltd. for embracing corporate responsibility.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 06, 2018 (SKNIS): Surrey Paving and Aggregate Company Ltd. was applauded for its recent partnership with the local netball association and the Department of Sports in St. Kitts that resulted in the paving of two courts at the Pam Tyson Netball Complex.

The company readily responded to a request from the St. Kitts Netball Association to assist with the refurbishment of the courts located in Warner Park, in preparation for the OECS Under-23 Netball Championship. Teams from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and host St. Kitts will contest the July 07 to 12 tournament.

Director of the Department of Sports, Anthony Wiltshire, noted that the contribution of Surrey Paving and Aggregate Co. Ltd. two weeks ago was an excellent demonstration of corporate responsibility.

We are grateful to them for having come onboard and that is why we want to develop that relationship with our business partners [so] that in whatever capacity, they would periodically come and assist us at the sports department,” he said.

Director Wiltshire added that there was once a dedicated space at Warner Park, where the history of the sport is on display for persons to relive or hear about memorable moments as well as to learn about dynamic personalities of the sport such as Gillian Musgrave-Archibald, Pam Tyson, Jennifer Nero and others.

“There was actually a museum in that area and we have given back the netball association that area so that they can have their office,” he stated. “We have done some refurbishing in the area ... because we want to ensure that we have a totally new facelift for the OECS game.” 

Mr. Wiltshire said the department remains open to partnerships with private companies and individuals.

 

Special Olympics of St. Kitts and Nevis

Surrey Paving & Aggregate Co. (Caribbean) Ltd is making a positive impact on St. Kitts and Nevis. They have contributed to The Special Olympics of St. Kitts and Nevis.

When approached by the Board of the Special Olympics of ST. Kitts and Nevis, Surrey Paving was more than happy to be associated with a group that is fostering the growth and development of people with intellectual disabilities.

Surrey has sponsored two of the seventeen Special Olympians athletes who will be representing the Federation at the world's largest sports and humanitarian.- Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, California from July 23- Aug 2, 2015.

The athletes will be competing in swimming, athletics, tennis and bocce. The cheque was presented by the Project Manager, Mr. Desmond Lewis to the National Director, Mr. Ivor Blake and the athletes; Jaren Pyrce of St. Kitts and Soranlli Zacarias of Nevis on Thursday, July 2, 2015.

Upgrading of the Ring Road

As part of a collaborative partnership between the Public and the Private Sector Surrey Paving and Aggregate joined forces with other local construction companies in a project to improve the road network at the University of the West Indies Hospital compound.

The scope of works involved the resurfacing of the Ring Road, the Main and Exit Entrances and the Staff, Patient and Visitors, Student and Lecturer Parking Areas.

In keeping with its mandate of continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development, while improving the quality of life of local community and society at large.
